(Fort Wayne, IN) – Pyromation, Inc., the Fort Wayne-based manufacturer of temperature sensors and thermowells, announced plans today to expand its current manufacturing facilities located at 5211 Industrial Road. The expansion includes construction of a manufacturing building addition, acquisition of existing facilities located adjacent to the current plant and investment in additional manufacturing equipment.

The new construction consists of a 15,400 square foot building addition on the southwest side of Pyromation’s manufacturing facility. Weigand Construction, the lead contractor for the project, expects to break ground for the new building in late July or early August of this year. Pyromation has invested $1.4 million in the construction of the building, with an additional outlay of $200,000 for other facility improvements over the next five years.

Pyromation’s Economic Revitalization Area Application filed with the city of Fort Wayne also includes an investment of $1.7 million for capital, primarily for manufacturing equipment such as die-cast molds, advanced CNC machining, IT equipment, welding equipment and other equipment related to thermowell production. In total, the investment by the company over the five-year period running through December 2015 is $3.3 million and is expected to create 39 new jobs.

The building addition constitutes a 44 percent increase to existing facility space owned by Pyromation. With the planned acquisition of an additional 17,000 square feet of manufacturing space located next to the existing facility, 12,000 of which is currently used by the company under a lease, Pyromation’s operating space will total 67,400 square feet.

“This investment is a reflection of Pyromation’s business success over the past 50 years and the expected growth over the next few years,” said Pyromation President and Owner, Pete Wilson. “We need extra manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand for our products, particularly in the area of thermowells. We looked at many options, all of which kept our business in Fort Wayne. The business was started here and we want to keep it here.”
